Cyprus
Why April?
April marks the genuine beginning of the Cyprus beach season. Sea temperatures reach 18–20°C — not warm by Mediterranean summer standards, but sufficient for swimming for most people. Daytime temperatures average 24°C, rising to 26–27°C in the south around Limassol and Paphos. The island is at its greenest and most colourful — the Akamas Peninsula nature reserve is spectacular in April wildflower season. Easter in Cyprus is the most important event of the year — the Orthodox Easter celebrations (which can differ from UK Easter by one to four weeks) involve extraordinary church services, midnight processions, and communal feasting.
Who it suits
Early-season beach travellers who want warmth without peak-season crowds and prices. Families with children who respond better to 24°C than the 37°C of August. Cultural travellers who want to experience Orthodox Easter. Walkers who want the island's rural interior and coastal trails without summer heat.

Honest warning: UK Easter and Orthodox Easter can fall in different weeks — confirm your dates if attending religious events is part of the plan. April is still early for some resort facilities (beach clubs, boats) to be fully operational. The sea, while swimmable, is significantly cooler than July.
