Why June?
June is Greece at near-peak. Temperatures reach 27–31°C depending on which island or region. The sea averages 22–24°C — perfect for long swims. June has twelve hours of daylight, allowing unhurried meals, long beach afternoons, and evening exploration without the rush. The Meltemi wind is beginning to build in the northern Aegean and Cyclades — it provides welcome cooling but can make ferry crossings livelier than in May. Crete in June is magnificent — the White Mountains still have snow on the highest peaks, the gorges (Samaria, Imbros) are fully open, and the beaches are warm and less crowded than July.
Who it suits
All traveller types. June suits island-hoppers, beach families, couples, and city-break travellers equally well. Those who want Santorini or Mykonos at their most photogenic but not their most congested should go in early June. Budget travellers should compare prices carefully — the gap between June and July is closing year on year.

Honest warning: Santorini and Mykonos in late June are very busy and prices are at near-peak levels. Book restaurants, boat tours, and accommodation at least 8–10 weeks ahead. The Meltemi wind can cause ferry cancellations between islands — build buffer into your inter-island schedule.
